Live from Los Angeles, the 2012 BET Awards were full of fashion, talent and entertainment.

Hosted by The Highest Grossing Film Actor of All Time; Samuel L. Jackson opened the show with a rap parody of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s song, “Fall so Hard” while being joined onstage by Spike Lee.  Alongside Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Pusha T, Kanye West gave an explosive lyrical monologue that set an electric pace for the show.

The late Whitney Houston was shown homage with performances by Monica, Brandy, and Houston’s brother Michael Houston.  Emotions ran high through out the audience as Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother, took the stage with a show stopping performance in tribute to her daughter singing “Bridge over Troubled Waters”.  The classic Maze featuring Frankie Beverly was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and then captivated the audience with their first ever live televised performance.

Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, and Rick Ross were amongst a host of artist who also performed during the event.  During his acceptance of the Humanitarian Award, Reverend Al Sharpton gave a very ‘sharp’ message in reference to voting for the upcoming presidential election, “Vote, it ain’t just about President Obama, it’s about yo mama”.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Beyoncé battled with placement in the same categories; they each took home two awards.
